I was pleased to see the story about the Bultaco Metralla in your latest issue (September/October 2015). Few people know that Bultaco made road motorcycles. I have owned my 1967 Metralla Mk2 since 1975. Mine is very fast and great fun to ride. I have never met a bike that could keep up with it on a twisty road. I live in western North Carolina and there is no shortage of challenging roads here.
I first saw my Metralla at a motorcycle show in Woodstock, Illinois. I didn’t have the money to buy it at the time, but a good friend saw I was interested and bought it. Later, he sold it to me. The fairing came with the bike. It looks like it was made by the previous owner. The mounting wasn’t very sturdy, so I improved it. The windshield was cracked, but I found a bikini fairing with a windshield that fit perfectly. I have two other Bultacos, a Matador that I bought new in 1969 and a Astro 360 scrambler. MC
